afa adai and welcome to Guam and the Marianas Yacht Club. To help make your visit enjoyable and productive, the following information has been compiled for you.
CLEARANCE: Clearing into Guam is straightforward. Call:
Customs. Marine: 472-8426 or Airport: 642-071 Immigration. Marine: 472-7265 or Airport: 642-7611
DOGS, CATS, BIRDS, etc. must be declared and will probably face quarantine or other restrictions. If you clear in after 1700 or on the weekend, be prepared to pay an overtime fee. If you are non-American without a visa, be prepared to pay a fee to apply for a visa.
WE OFFER a clean, quiet anchorage with moorings (but no docks), phone, wi-fi, potable water, showers, toilets, safe dinghy anchorage, garbage pick up, barbecue facilities, large covered lanai, and parking.
MOORING BUOYS:
The mooring pennants are subject to chafe and oyster growth, thus weakening the line. You are strongly advised to inspect the mooring pennant. It is also suggested that you attach your own line to the mooring chain for a back up as well. In the past, boats have drifted away from the mooring buoys due to chafed lines and shackle pin loss.
We extend three days of gratuitous use of our club facilities and visitor moorings, providing you register with the club as a visiting yacht. Forms are located by the telephone. Thereafter, club use and/or visitor mooring fees are $7 per day, payable to the Rear Commodore, Harbors or MYC Treasurer at the time of arrival.
CLUB HOUSE AND PREMISES:
As with regular members, children must be under the general supervision of an adult while on the grounds of the club and within the clubhouse proper.
The Club’s gate is closed and locked except during the snack bar hours. The lock combination will be given after registration is complete.
Water quality at MYC is some of the best on the island. Guam periodically experiences dry seasons and you are asked to conserve water. Cold-water showers are located behind the clubhouse.
MYC operates a snack bar on the weekends. Hours of operation are Friday 6 pm – 9 pm and Sunday noon – 6 pm. Dinner specials, salads, sandwiches, snacks, beer, wine and soft drinks are sold. We have an outdoor gas BBQ, which may be used upon arrangement and payment of a small fee for gas.
Please deposit all boat trash in the dumpster outside the gate. Do not use the bins by the patio for trash as these are for snack bar patrons only. Recycle containers for plastic bottles and aluminum cans are placed adjacent to the patio. Our rules and regulations forbid the disposal of hazardous trash in the dumpster or on the grounds and our landfill requires recycling of cardboard. These items MAY NOT be placed in the rubbish bin. Respect our environmentally sensitive area. Contact a board member for information on proper disposal of hazardous waste and cardboard.
You may use the telephone for any local calls. Please restrict your use of Directory Assistance as these calls are charged to the Club. Long distance service is blocked, so you must use a credit card, phone card or call collect. Phone cards may be purchased at nearby food marts and service station convenience stores. We have only one line for members to call in or out. Be mindful of long calls. Our number is +1 (671) 477-3533.
Usage of the club includes high-speed wireless internet service in the patio area. MYC has an extensive library of charts for loan. You are welcome to join in our racing, sail classes, and social events while at the club.
MAIL: MYC will receive and hold mail for you during your temporary stay, provided that you register and moor at the club (upon departure, leave a forwarding address). Our mailing address: Marianas Yacht Club
P.O. Box 2297
Hagatna, Guam 96932
If you become a regular member, you must establish your own mailing address elsewhere on Guam. MYC does not act as a mail address for members.
TRANSPORTATION to town is by taxi, bus, or hitching a ride with a member. Blue Line 2 serves our area. Please check www.grta.guam.gov for current schedules and fares. Contact www.infotaxi.org for taxi service. Rental cars are available through several agencies. Often, you can catch a ride with someone going towards town. We may have members leaving for work in the mornings.
LAUNDRY may not be done on the club premises. Detergents and cleaning chemicals will adversely affect the wetlands area the Club occupies. Our location is on Sasa Bay, which is a Marine Preserve that promotes marine life. Please help us preserve the environment. Laundromats are located throughout Guam.
VISITOR FEE SCHEDULE
Visitors may use the club facilities and/or occupy a mooring free for 3 days, thereafter for a fee of $7 per day. The size of the yacht and the number of persons using MYC facilities from each yacht may affect the fee structure. The MYC Board of Directors will review each application on a case-by-case basis. If you stay longer than 12 weeks, you must apply for a regular or temporary MYC membership.
