About this event

Thank you for your interest the MYC Youth Sailing Program, Summer 2023!

Come join us for a fun introduction to or refresher on youth sailing.  In our summer program, students will be introduced to the basics of boats, water safety and the fundamentals of sailing.

Our Program is run by instructors and volunteers. If you are able to volunteer, we  need you!  Volunteer opportunities include:   Adult Shore Support & Adult Boat Support. Please email learntosail@marianasyachtclub.org if you are interested.

Before Registering
for this class, please visit the Summer Sailing Program page for the Youth Sailing Program to make sure your youth sailor meets the prerequisites for the program.

What does my youth sailor need
for the class?
Please make sure your youth sailor
has their own Coast Guard-approved Type III Personal Flotation Device (PFD), water shoes for sailing and zories for relaxing (no bare feet allowed), competed and paid registration and a signed release and waiver form. For the complete list, please review MYC Youth Sailing 2022 Information Sheet

What Boat will my Child be Sailing On?
Classes will be taught on age-appropriate and skill-appropriate boats that may include Optimist Dinghy, Laser Pico, and Laser 4.7 dinghy.

The Optimist Dinghy
Also called 'Opti' or 'Oppi'
Largest One-Class Design Fleet & Growing
Most Top World Sailors started on the Opti
Single handed boat for ages 8 - 15

Laser 4.7
For sailors who have aged out of the Optimist.

The Laser Pico

The Laser Pico is a “in-between” boat and great for the novice and more experienced sailor. It can hold one adult comfortably or up to 3 youth, or a mix of both. For the older novice sailor, it may be a better learn-to-sail boat than the Laser 4.7. The MYC has one Laser Pico that may be used when needed.

We look forward to meeting your Youth Sailor!   Again, for any questions, please email learntosail@marianasyachtclub.org.

See you on the water!
