41st Annual Goodwill Regatta

 

Guam-Japan

 

March 2-5, 2018

 

Sponsored by Marianas Yacht Club and

Micronesian Laser Association

 

1. Rules

The series will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing 2017-2021, the rules of the Laser Class Association, and the sailing instructions.

 

2. Eligibility and Entry

The regatta is open to members of the International Laser Association.

 

3. Schedule of Events

    Friday, March 2, 2018

Charter boat check out and registration at MYC                    1200 noon

Welcome: Marianas Yacht Club                                              1800

Registration Dinner available at the club

           
Saturday, March 3, 2018

                        Late Charter check out                                                           0830

                        Skipper's Mtg, Marianas Yacht Club                                      0930

                        Course Racing                                                             1030-1600

                        Evening – Open

           
Sunday, March 4, 2018

                        Final Course Racing                                                               1030-1500

                        Awards Ceremony Dinner at MYC                                        1830

           
Monday, March 5, 2018

                        Day Activities – Open for touring, snorkel, golf, shopping, etc.

                        Evening potluck at member's home                                        1800

                        Competitors, Host families, Committee members

 

 

4. Entry Fees *

Members of US Sail or National sailing authority                              $100.00

Non US Sail members                                                             $150.00

 

*Entry includes lunch for Saturday and Sunday, and Dinner at the Awards Party

 

5. Charter & Deposit

International members may charter good condition boats for $150.00 US.   Hull, spar and dagger boards are provided, however, it is recommended to bring your dagger board for best performance.  Bring sail, tiller & extension, rudders (MYC has limited quantity) and running gear (with blocks, etc.).  Boats are available Friday, March 2 on a first come first basis.    

 

6. Sailing Instructions:

Sailing instructions will be available at Registration & Skipper's Meeting.

 

7.  Race Area

The racing area will be Apra Harbor in an area specified at the Skipper's Meeting.

 

8.  Course:

The course(s) will be detailed at the Skipper's Meeting and posted on the notice board.    

 

9.  Scoring:

The Low Point Scoring System, Appendix A4 of the racing rules, will apply.

 

10.  Decisions of the Protest Committee

Decisions of the Protest Committee will be final.


11.  Prizes

First through third place prizes will be awarded.    The Bob Bradford Heavy Weather Award, Tadami Team Trophy, and other special prizes and awards will be given.

 

12.  Accommodations

Homestay for visiting competitors is available with MYC members upon request.  Please advise early of your housing needs.  Large groups or support parties will require hotel arrangements.  Contact either Stacy Gilmore at stagilmore4@gmail.com or Kelly Bruce at kbrucster@gmail.com.  Visiting competitors are requested to advise MYC of flight schedules either through Japan Laser Association or Stacy at above email address.
